The moment my husband told me that a friend of ours Michael and his wife Jenny had just had a baby and so we scheduled Abigail’s newborn session, I was excited. I love babies, love their temperaments, and how they soak in the world. Sponges as my dad would say. I had never done a newborn shoot other than my daughters, but that was an entire fail and well that’s okay since it was for me.
I got in contact with Michael and Jenny and started planning. Getting to plan Abigail’s Newborn Session was so much fun, there wasn’t a bunch of wants but the one want that they wanted and that was for their dog Maggie a Newfoundland. Being up to the task, I did it.
When we brought in Maggie (the year old Newfoundland) the session became interesting, all of use trying to incorporate the gigantic puppy and a newborn while keeping baby 100% safe was a challenge and fun, even more fun editing the photos to capture both of Michael and Jenny’s desire to have photos with both of them.
Abigail was beautiful, cooperative and just a peach to photograph. She made my first newborn experience a great one, one that I will always remember because that was when I decided I really wanted to photograph more newborns.
I now take pride in the fact that this session was my launching point of thinking about the possibilities. Feeding, wrapping, swooning, adjusting, taking photos, unwrapping and just soaking in every precious face is one of the best feelings. This little girl had some of the best expressions and it made for such a great experience.
